Bitch Grenache
Bitch is the playful name of this Barossa
Grenache from my friend, Dan Philips, of The Grateful Palate,
Chris
Ringland, the man behind the 100 point
Shiraz
from Three Rivers, and a great team of winemakers at R Wines.
This is a playful mouthful of black fruit, candied plum, with a
touch of pepper, cinnamon and oak. This
100% old vine Grenache is a great value and an especially fun bottle to
share with friends and family!

Chris
Ringland Shiraz "Ebenezer" CR Barossa
A
massive, rich, savory Shiraz that offers loads of succulent black fruit,
dark blackberries and blueberries with notes of chocolate, cedar,
molasses, tar, smoke, and toast. This
shows great depth and complexity, with a long, focused finish that goes on
and on and on. Robert Parker gave
this a mighty 93 Points, calling it an “amazing value”.

Chateau Chateau Grenache My Sun is
your Sun (R
Wines)
This shows a beautiful nose and
opens up to rich, deep layers of red and black cherry and plum fruit,
along with hints of brown earth, pepper, and orange peel. This is pretty
and expressive on the palate, shows incredible balance, and a finish that
goes on and on and on. 100%
Grenache, 45 year old vines, from the Pfeiffer Family vineyard in the
Stonewell region of the Barossa Valley, aged for 12 months in second use
French barrels. This is one of five Grenaches from the Chateau Chateau
series, with 94+ Points, Robert
Parker.

Chateau Chateau Grenache Triumphal Arc (R
Wines)
This shows a floral nose with dusty berry fruit
and a hint of sand which is pretty cool as this comes from the sandy soils
of Light Pass, an area of Barossa Valley.
This single vineyard Grenache opens up layers of plush red cherry
and blackberry fruit with notes of anise, tobacco, earth, and spice. This
is round and rich on the palate, is well balanced, and shows incredible
complexity. 100% Grenache, 40
year old vines, aged for 14 months in second use French barrels. This is
the third of five Grenaches from the Chateau Chateau series that I have
been able to secure and this one comes in with a nice review from and 94
Points, Robert
Parker.

Grail of Lisa Shiraz
This mind-blowing Shiraz
is huge and offers tons of vibrant ripe blackberries (think yummy
blackberry pie) that is juicy yet structured with notes of vanilla,
toffee, and oak spice. This is
fullbodied, seriously concentrated, and full of luscious black fruit yet
remains balanced and finishes oh so good.
The Grail of Lisa was named for
Chris
Ringland’s partner in winemaking, Lisa Wetherell, a 100% Shiraz that has
previously been made for Marquis Philips’ reserve Shiraz 9 and the
Shiraz Integrity which gets great press (93-99 Points from Robert Parker,
collectively). I am talking
big, mightly old vine Shiraz from Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale age in
24 months in new American oak hogsheads (stainless steel barrels with oak
ends). This comes in a fun
three bottle box that displays well in the cellar.

Points on the 2003, 96 Points for the 2002, and 98 Points for the 2001.

Shirvington
Shiraz
"The dense, chewy, rich, deeply-colored 2005 Shiraz is a full-bodied,
ripe, intense wine ... boasting 16% alcohol as well as stunning richness
and length. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Owners Paul and Lynn
Shirvington have replaced winemakers Sarah and Sparky Marquis with Kim
Johnston, who appears to be following in the same footsteps, producing
bigger than life, bold, rich, but beautifully linear and precise wines." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - 93
