2004 Bisou Cabernet Sauvignon
James Johnson Vineyard

$84.99 / bottle

100% Cabernet Sauvignon from proprietor,  James Johnson.  The  third & fourth vintage of Bisou have been released at the same time which we don't see often.   Tanya tasted both of these side by side when she was in Napa last month and she came back raving about these wine.

Both the `03 and `04 Cabernet are  made by the talented Thomas Brown (Schrader Cellars).  The 2003 is rich, structured and beautifully balanced, this is one of Napa's best values for hand-crafted Cabernet.  The 2004 is a totally different bottle.  The `04 is a big, full-blown, and more opulent Cabernet without going over the top.  This is serious Cabernet at its best!

James Johnson Vineyards is a definite up and coming winery, making hand-crafted, small production, high quality wines. James, and his wife, Michelle, believe in serious attention to detail in their small three-acre vineyard at their home in St. Helena.  Jim Barbour planted this vineyard with three different clones in three separate blocks that are each named after James & Michelle’s three children. Paige is queen of the Grace Clone, which gives the wines elegance and perfume, Ryan is king of Bordeaux Clone 337, which adds structure, and Ashley is princess of Clone four, which also gives the wines structure and backbone. The property is located at the north end of St. Helena, at Napa Valley’s narrowest point, and within a few hundred yards of the breeding grounds of three or four world class Cabernets (check your cellar for Hourglass and Revana!)

Given the small production of this project, James said he could only give us one more case....  Don't wait.... Get a couple of bottles of the Bisou while you can!
