Hundred Acre 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Ark Vineyard $275 -- This is one gorgeous Cabernet that is amazingly rich, full-bodied and opulent.  Layers of black currant, black berry, and plum with mocha, espresso, graphite and cigar spice.  This is deep, structured, and finishes long.  The Ark Vineyard is a 17 acre parcel on the property of Jayson’s home and winery on Howell Mountain where yields are tiny, about one ton of fruit per acre.  Hundred Acre is a Parker darling with 94-96 points from The Wine Advocate and a well respected 95-100 points, Wine Spectator.  James Laube said, this “has all the ingredients for greatness”.  I would agree.

Hundred Acre 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan Vineyard $275 -- If The Ark is gorgeous, Kayli Morgan is amazing.  Plush, well-concentrated, with loads of plush black cherry, cassis, caramel, spice box, cedar, minerals and graphite.  This is full-bodied, offers incredible purity, with polished layers and complex notes through to a long, long finish.   This has been well received with 92-94 points, Wine Spectator and a whopping 96-99 points, Robert Parker.

Hundred Acre 2005 Shiraz Ancient Way Barossa Australia $255 -- This is called the "one of the most incredible vineyard sites in the world" with the "very best vines".  The grapes are very small and the concentration is nothing short of incredible.  This full-bodied, single vineyard Shiraz is packed with loads of black fruit with mocha, subtle spice, and smoke notes.  This is rich, almost massive on the palate, and the flavors run deep and gain momentum on the long finish.  Jayson put the Ancient Way in front of Robert Parker and he loved it.  This will get a big score in July in the Australia section of The Wine Advocate.

Hundred Acre has been a perennial super-star since the inaugural 2000 vintage.  This is the project of proprietor, Jayson Woodbridge with winemaking guru, Philippe Melka.    Ask anyone who has ever asked me about my favorite Cabernet ever --  the Hundred Acre Cabernets are right there at the top!  Cheers,  Tanya
