Vice Versa

2005 Le Petit Vice Napa Valley Red

$49.99

Full-bodied, with a rich, savory mouthfeel, showing layers of ripe black currants, red wildberries, with notes of mocha, caramel, toast and a hint of roasted meat, ash, and spice.  This shows good purity of fruit, is well balanced with integrated French oak.

Winemaker, Paul Hobbs blended almost equal parts of Syrah from the Ulises Valdez Vineyard to this Cabernet Sauvignon from Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard in Oakville.  This is a marvelous marriage that shows excellent density, balance, complexity and structure.   This took almost an hour to open (this is to be expected after being on a truck for the last 12 hours), showed great after 90-120 minutes, and just got better and better.  This is sure to get age well in the cellar.

This was one of the hottest wines from my A-List last year because of the quality of juice for the price.  Think about it, Paul Hobbs is the winemaker, grand-cru Napa Valley vineyard sites, and Wine Spectator & Parker’s solid endorsement (90-94 points previous vintage).
