Hello Friends,

I got the news last night that a gem is releasing today and to be honest, I sacrificed my workout time this morning to collect all the details and get this out to you.  I will make up the cardio time this weekend running the hills of Napa and as you know, when the names of David Abreu & Kirk Venge are involved, that is the priority.

Shoot me email at tanya@winestreet.com or give me a call at 760-431-8455 or toll free at 877-653-2162 to get your hands on a couple of these before they're gone!

P.S.  Not local to San Diego and concerned about the heat?  We offer free climate controlled storage on all purchases over the summer. We can also ship 2 day or overnight, if preferred.

Igneous

2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley   Sold Out

This is the third release from Don and Ann Huckfeldt and the strong team of Nils & Kirk Venge.  This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Thorevilos Vineyard (one of Abreu’s three vineyards; serious high-end fruit) on the eastern hillside of St. Helena is an incredible mountain-side Cabernet.  This is the wine my friend referred to back in August as having "balls" and that describes the new release as well!  Full bodied, fleshy and in the line of a “monster Cabernet”, this is plush with fully ripened red-black currant fruit with notes of chocolate, dark caramel, vanilla, and toasty oak.  This Cabernet shows a strong mid-palate, remains balanced from start to finish, and is supported by ripe tannins and good acidity.  This is enjoyable now but will definitely be better in 1-2 years, and is cellarable through 2015.

I met Don and Ann Huckfeldt in August when I got a special pre-release look at this Cabernet.  They are great people, as passion as proprietors get in Napa .  Don owns a water-well drilling company, which has given him an appreciation for the composition of the soil and terroir of the Napa Valley .  Hence,  “Igneous” is the perfect name for his project.

Igneous was written about in one of Wine Spectator’s stories (July, 2007) about the wines on the list at French Landry just below Blankiet, Sloan, Hundred Acre .... (You know the names).  This made the phone ring but the `03 was gone!

I was told that there would be more of the `04 to share but unfortunately there is not.  With only 240 cases produced and “the cat out of the bag” on this wine, it is limited and it will go fast.
