Chateau Sansey Graves Blanc
The higher proportion of
Semillon in this lovely white lends a waxy, parrafin note that really
rounds out the wine, adding richness and depth. A whiff of honey, great
texture, this practically begs to be paired with fish or scallops.
Brown butter sauce anyone? 60% Semillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 20%
Muscadelle. |

Clos de la Graniere Chateauneuf-du-Pape
The second wine of Chateau la Nerthe, one of the
oldest and most prestigious estates in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, this is a
tremendous value from a stellar year. Sourced from young vines on the
estate, this is a blend of the all 13 of the traditional
Chateauneuf-du-Pape varietals. Blackberry compote, hints of licorice,
cherry, incredibly graceful and elegant. |

Paul Autard Chateauneuf du Pape Cote
Ronde
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate,
Feb 2007
This is a relatively modern style of Chateauneuf du Pape, especially
the top cuvee called La Cote Ronde, which always seems to show evidence
of some of the wine being aged in barriques. Probably the best cuvee
Autard has made since 1998 is his 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee La Cote
Ronde. Opaque bluish purple-colored with the wood toned down, even in
its exuberant youthfulness this full-bodied wine is nicely layered and
shows plenty of black raspberry, kirsch, melted licorice, and black
cherry notes, depth, richness, and an expansive layered texture. This is
a beauty and one of the real stars of the vintage. It should be at its
best between 2009 and 2017. 91-94 points |

Outstanding Rose. Maybe
the best we have tasted this year from the South of France. Big, full,
rich, and textural Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Grenache. Really an
unbelievably full and flavorful rose that still retains its
freshness. From 35 year-old vines from Côtes de Provence area of des
Maures, between the Mediterranean and the Maures massif, a few
kilometers from Toulon and Saint-Tropez. |

Magali Cotes de Provence Rosé
What a
charming Rosé! Fresh, light, crisp, and totally dry, but with
enough flavor to hold up to grilled vegetables or seafood. Think
strawberry and black cherry with just enough earthiness to taste
“serious” but plenty of fruit and acidity to remain playful and tasty.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cinsault, and Grenache |

Beaujolais Nouveau) to preserve the fresh and floral character of the
fruit. 76% Grenache, 8% each of Syrah, Cinsault and Carignan. |

Jean
Gardies
Les Millieres Cotes du Roussillon
Villages
What a cool red from southern France!
Magenta in color with a pronounced aroma of star anise and/or wild
fennel with black pepper and violet. The nose on these southern French
reds plays such a huge role in their allure. And this blend is un-oaked
to allow those aromas to really sing! Dense and almost thick in
the mouth, full of black fruits and a loamy mineral note. The finish is
persistent and loaded with pepper and blackberries. Wow!

This delicious Chardonnay
comes from a 9th century estate near Tournus, in the commune
of Ozenay. Notes of flint and shale on the nose are followed by a
rich yet clean mouthful of balanced apple, stone fruit and pear.
But the real payoff here is the depth of the wine and long, layered
finish. Another example of the terrific quality of the 2005 vintage in
Burgundy. Outstanding! |
