Monasterio de les Vinas Macabeo
Surprisingly full and creamy white wine from Spain.  Also known as Viura, this grape makes up most of the Rioja whites blends and is also used with Parellada to make Spain’s delicious sparkling wine called Cava.  Flavors of orange and tangerine are followed by a deliciously creamy texture.

This is a delicious, full flavored Rosado from Rioja , Spain .  About 2/3’s Garnacha, with some Viura, Malvasia, and Tempranillo.  Notes of watermelon, cherry, and tangerine, finishing clean and dry. This is perfect for a hot summer day!

Rich and ripe Tempranillo here, showing deep, dark black fruit and sweet, rich loam.  Blackberries, smoke, sweet caramel and more. Another example of Tempranillo’s ability to be thick and smooth while retaining its high elevation acidity and its elegance.

Leda Vinas Viejas 

Smoky and toasty with a core of juicy black cherry and notes of mineral and pencil lead.  Complex and muscular, this is 100% Tempranillo aged in French and American oak.  The project was put together by Mariano Garcia, winemaker at Vega Sicilia for 30 years.  Intense violet nose, aromas of black berry preserve, toasted coffee wood spice.  Potent, elegant, with very silky tannins.  Very long-finishing.

Cellers Can Blau Can Blau , Montsant
Still unbelievably under-priced, this wine is a plush, spiced, layered blend of Carignane, Grenache and Syrah from the Montsant region of Spain, about an hour or so south of Barcelona and inland off the Mediterranean sea.  The area produces layered wines with similarly expressive spice and mineral notes as its more famous neighbor Priorat, but Montsant is way less expensive.

Mas de Can Blau Montsant

First ever bottling, this is the big brother to the near famous Can Blau Can Blau. This is the oldest Carignane, Garnacha and Syrah vines from the estate.  Aged 20 months in new French Oak and bottled unfiltered. Layered, super complex and long finishing.  Black and blue fruit, fragrant brown spice, and a good dose of minerals on the back end.

EVOHE Garnacha
This little Grenache is packed full of tasty red and black cherry, fragrant herbs a note of strawberry liqueur and a mineral finish.  Made from old vines Garnacha Peluda (original clones of Garnacha) from the area around Lécera, 200 km NW of the Priorat in Bajo Aragon.  Cold fermented in stainless steel with no oak used at all, this wine focuses on Garnacha’s pure fruit, natural spice and acidity.  Excellent wine for the money.

Tres Picos Garnacha, Campo de Borja, Spain
Plush and fragrant Grenache giving mouthfuls of red raspberry and blackberry with hints of sweet saddle leather and vanilla bean on the finish.  This is a perennial over-achiever and, remarkably, still priced low enough to fit most people’s “daily” wine budget… but it drinks so much better than daily wine!
