Winter

2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley   $125

This opens up within minutes and draws you in with a packed bouquet.  Extravagantly rich with black currants, incredible purity and density, this handcrafted 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the base of Spring Mountain is full-bodied, well-balanced with ripe black fruit, good acidity, and well-integrated oak, with complex notes of spice box, caramel, graphite and toast, and a long, elegant finish.

Winter is the project of Rob Winters made by the talented Helen Mawson. 

Helen worked as assistant winemaker with Philippe Melka at Vineyard 29 and is currently assistant to Jayson Woodbridge at Hundred Acre.   This is the second release from Winter with consistent scores of 95 points on the inaugural 2004 Cabernet and this 2005 release. I tasted this in September with Rob (my notes are above) and I can’t wait to raise a glass with Rob next week during my birthday trip to Napa.
